Североамериканское соглашение о свободной торговле
Договор об образовании региональной зоны свободной торговли, подписанный США и Канадой в 1989 г. Целью организации является устранение барьеров во взаимной торговле товарами промышленного производства и сырьем, а также ликвидация ограничений на инвестиции, банковские и финансовые услуги. В 1993 г. к соглашению присоединилась Мексика, и организация трех стран стала называться «North American Free Trade Area» (Североамериканская зона свободной торговли). Зона свободной торговли
Объединение стран на основе отмены ограничений во взаимной торговле (тарифов, квот и т.д.) при сохранении барьеров в торговле с третьими странами. Цель создания свободной зоны - наилучшее использование преимуществ международной специализации, что позволяет странам-членам повышать реальный уровень жизни своих граждан. Европейская ассоциация свободной торговли (см. EFTA) - один из примеров такого объединения.
